Canon has a new whiz-bang $20,000 camera coming out that is designed to change the film industry (much like the $20,000 camera by Red), and typically whenever a new camera (especially one with stellar video capabilities) comes out, there is a demo reel done by a famous director showing off what the camera can do.
This video does what every other camera demo video does, but then goes way further by making it entertaining and downright hilarious. It’s extra funny if you’ve seen lots of demo videos or know people in the film industry, but even without any insider knowledge, the jokes come through.
It’s awesome that Canon let this happen and it makes me want the camera so much more for having seen it.

The Milky Way over Pulpit Rock:
Explanation: Can a picture of the sky be relaxing? A candidate for such a picture might be this image taken only last month from Cape Schank, Victoria, Australia. The frame is highlighted by a dreamlike lagoon, two galaxies, and tens of thousands of stars. The rock cropping on the left may appear from this angle like a human head, but the more famous rock structure is on the far right and known as Pulpit Rock. Across the top of the image runs a distant stream of bright stars and dark dust that is part of the disk of our spiral Milky Way Galaxy. On the right, just above Pulpit Rock, is the Milky Way’s small neighboring galaxy the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). The bright white object just to the left of the SMC is a globular cluster of stars in the Milky Way known as 47 Tucana.

Japanese company Tomy has introduced a Mario Kart RC game:
In addition to the usual remote controlled shenanigans, these guys have the ability to “shoot” virtual shells and bananas at other cars; power-ups are indicated on the controller via LEDs; and cars contain infrared sensors so you know when you’ve been hit with a weapon (which causes you to rumble and slow down) Cars are available from Amazon Japan to the tune of ¥2,730 (around $30) each.

A coworker recently recommended I take a trip to Croatia for, in their words, the best Italian food in the world. Color me convinced. (Dubrovnik, Croatia via fuckyeahglobetrotters)
